Punderson State Park A bit further afield but well worth a road trip is the breathtaking wooded 741-acre Punderson State Park. Enjoy the beauty of the glaciated plateau region of Ohio. The scenic 150-acre Punderson Lake, the largest and deepest and one of only a few natural kettle lakes left in the state, was formed when large ice blocks broke off the Wisconsinan glacier. The lake is ideal for boating, paddling, and fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill, trout, and catfish. The woodlands surrounding the lake attract an array of bird and animal life. Canada geese, great blue herons, wood ducks, and horned owls have made this beautiful park their home. You will catch glimpses of raccoons, beavers, opossums, and white-tailed deer if you hike down the trails.
