Nissan’s Warranty: What Owners Need to Know

Your new Nissan combines excellent fuel efficiency, head-turning styling, and responsive handling. If this isn’t enough, it carries a comprehensive warranty that protects you against the unlikely event of any issue with your vehicle. Let’s take a closer look at some of the highlights of the 2024 Nissan warranty.

Understanding Your 2024 Nissan Warranty

Basic Coverage

This warranty covers most of your Nissan’s systems and components except for those covered by other warranties. If any labor or material issue is identified, the affected system or component will be repaired or replaced at no charge. All repairs or replacements are performed by Nissan-trained technicians using only Nissan-approved parts.

Coverage applies for the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Certain situations and circumstances are not covered by the warranty, including damage caused by normal wear and tear, damage caused using unauthorized parts, or damage caused by insufficient maintenance.

Powertrain Coverage

The powertrain covers the most complex and costly parts of your Nissan. It includes the engine, transmission, drivetrain, and transaxle. All components in these systems, except those specifically excluded, are covered by warranty for five years or 60,000 miles. This includes the cylinder heads, all internal transmission components, and universal joints. The airbags and their control system are also covered by this warranty.

Corrosion Coverage

Corrosion is damage to metal that causes it to oxidize and break down. Oxidization occurs when metal reacts with oxygen in the presence of liquid. For example, unprotected iron that’s wet and exposed to air will start to rust. All the metal sections and body panels in your Nissan are protected against corrosion by specialized coatings applied during manufacture.

The protective coatings don’t need to be reapplied unless your vehicle is damaged in an accident. If corrosion appears and forms a hole from one side of a metal panel to the other, known as perforation, the affected panel will be replaced at no cost. Corrosion coverage applies for five years and unlimited mileage.

Adjustment Coverage

Adjustments are changes to your vehicle that don’t require replacement parts. This includes timing belt tensioning, wheel balancing, and wheel alignment. Coverage for these changes applies for the first year of 12,000 miles.

Refrigerant Recharge Only Coverage

If your refrigerant needs to be recharged for any reason not associated with a repair or parts replacement, it will be recharged at no cost within the warranty period. This coverage applies for the first year and unlimited mileage.

Towing Coverage

If your Nissan can’t be driven due to a warranty-related issue, towing to the nearest Nissan dealer is provided at no charge.
